Traffic on the Niagara-bound Queen Elizabeth Way in Oakville is heavily backed up after a garbage truck caught fire on Tuesday afternoon.
The fire broke out around 1 p.m. in the westbound lanes near Trafalgar Road.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said a disabled transport hauling garbage caught fire.
They added that there are no reported injuries.
“Clean-up efforts are ongoing, and traffic impacts remain in the area,” the OPP said in a statement provided to CTV News Toronto.
An aerial fire truck could be seen at the scene dumping water on the fire.
Oakville Fire Department’s Hazmat unit also attended the scene.
Motorists should note that North Service Road is also closed.
