A wind warning is in effect as strong gusts of up to 100 kilometres an hour bring down power lines and trees across the province.

There are power lines on the ground all over the city, especially in heavily treed neighbourhoods.

Power outages are reported in pockets right across the province from Windsor north to Huntsville due to the winds this morning. Among the hardest hit areas are Bala and Bracebridge, and communities along the Lake Huron shoreline where tens of thousands of people are in the dark.

Hundreds are also without electricity in York Region and parts of ski country as well as Burlington and Oakville.

Meanwhile, air travellers are also coping with many delays and cancellations on Sunday at Pearson International Airport.

Some Canadian flights, sun destinations and east coast U.S. cities like New York and Philadelphia are being affected.

If you are flying today or picking up some one from the airport, you are advised to check ahead before you leave home.

The Burlington Skyway Bridge has reopened after windy conditions forced a closure early this morning.
