Toronto Mayor David Miller confirmed on Tuesday that he will replace Ontario's former attorney-general Michael Bryant as CEO of Invest Toronto.

Miller will replace Bryant on an interim basis while the corporation searches for a new leader, says a statement released by the city.

Bryant voluntarily resigned from the job after he was charged with dangerous driving and criminal negligence in the death of a cyclist.

Bryant has publicly declared that he's innocent, but said he didn't want the incident "to distract from the vital efforts of Invest Toronto."

Miller launched the corporation earlier this year along with Build Toronto. Invest Toronto has the task of marketing the city to global investors.

The 15-member board approved Miller's appointment.

Miller will be appearing tonight on CP24 at 8 p.m. for "The Mayor."
