TORONTO - Two pedestrians have been struck by buses in Toronto this weekend, just days after police in the city launched a blitz ticketing and educating pedestrians to raise awareness about safety while crossing the street.
Witnesses say a woman, believed to be in her thirties, was hit by a bus at Dufferin and Bloor just after 6 a.m. Sunday and was sent to hospital.
The extent of her injuries isn't known and there's no word on any charges.
A young man suffered cuts and bruises to his face and was taken to hospital to be checked out after he was hit by a TTC bus around 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Witnesses say the man was talking on his cellphone and may have been distracted while he was crossing the intersection at Lawrence Avenue East and East Avenue near the Rouge Hill GO Station.
No charges have been laid.
Fourteen pedestrians have been struck and killed in the Greater Toronto Area since Jan. 6.
