Toronto Hydro says fewer than 1,000 customers were affected by a power outage in the city's west end, which happened shortly after a hydro worker in that area was electrified while working.

The outage was from Hillcrest Drive to Wichcrest Avenue, and from Dovercourt Road to Bathurst Street. The area straddles Davenport Road in the city's west end.

The Ministry of Labour investigated the incident and hydro officials say it's not clear if the worker was injured while making repairs or if their injury caused the outage.

A spokesperson for Toronto Hydro says the victim is expected to survive.
