CARSON, Calif. - Juan Pablo Angel scored twice as Chivas USA defeated Toronto FC 3-0 in Major League Soccer action Saturday.

Justin Braun also scored for Chivas (8-12-11), which moved four points behind New York for the final playoff spot.

Angel put Chivas up in the 12th minute and Braun made it 2-0 in the 71st. Angel then sealed the win with his second goal in the 77th minute.

Angel has now scored five goals in three games and six since moving to Chivas USA from the LA Galaxy on Aug. 17th.

Toronto FC coach Aron Winter said his team was second best all night.

"I think if you see the whole game, Chivas were the better team. They made a better impression than us. We were a little bit flat," he said. "I think also the problem is the last weeks, we played against very strong opponents and all the travels, and we don't have a big roster.

"But it's not good enough, we can't bring every week the same performance that we have done (tonight)."

Toronto's record dropped to 6-13-2 on the year.

"It's very disappointing. I think we could have done a lot better. I don't know if it was not feeling it, or if the organization of the team just wasn't there," Toronto FC midfielder Eric Avila said. "There were bits and parts that were good, but other ones that killed us."

The Reds have a critical home game Tuesday in the CONCACAF Champions against Pumas.

The Mexican side tops the group on goal difference with seven points (2-1-1). FC Dallas (2-1-1) is second, while Toronto sits third on six points (2-2-0).

Pumas thumped Toronto FC 4-0 earlier this month in Mexico City. The top two teams in each group move on to the knockout stage.
