Police evacuated the Queen and Logan Streets area amid reports that a suspect left a bomb at the scene of an attempted bank robbery.

The attempted robbery is believed to have happened at the TD Canada Trust branch at 900 Queen St. E., near Logan Street, at 3:11 p.m. Tuesday.

A man, all dressed in black wearing a surgical mask and gloves, entered the bank and gave a note to the bank staff demanding money.

He was not given cash and as he was leaving, the man left behind a package saying there were explosives inside.

Police say the suspect is described as white and tall. He is believed to have fled northbound on Queen Street E.

Northbound Logan Street from Queen Street was blocked off with a 75-metre perimeter. The area has now been opened.
