HEERENVEEN, Netherlands - Canada's Christine Nesbitt captured her third victory of the World Cup long-track speedskating season Sunday, racing to gold in the women's 1,000 metres.

The Ottawa skater crossed in one minute 15.47 seconds to secure the victory that had eluded her a day earlier.

Nesbitt had finished second by a mere five-one hundredths of a second in the 1,500 metres on Saturday.

Annette Gerritsen of the Netherlands won the silver in the 1,000 in 1:16.03, while Dutch teammate Natasja Bruinsma took the bronze in 1:16.08.

Kristina Groves of Ottawa was sixth in 1:16.62.

The Canadian women added gold in the team pursuit, cruising to a time of 3:00.39. The Netherlands was second in 3:02.12, while Russia took bronze in 3:02.40.
