NAGANO, Japan - Denny Morrison and Christine Nesbitt each won silver while fellow Canadian Kristina Groves claimed bronze at a speedskating World Cup meet Saturday.
  
Morrison, from Fort St. John, B.C., was 0.19 seconds behind American Shani Davis' time of one minute 9.21 seconds in the men's 1,000 metres.

South Korea's Lee Kyou-hyuk finished third in 1:09.43.

In the women's 1,000, Nesbitt, from London, Ont., was just 0.05 seconds behind American Jennifer Rodriguez's 1:16.34.

Groves, from Ottawa, was third in 1:16.62.

Germany's Jenny Wolf easily won the 500 in 37.71, comfortably ahead of South Korea's Lee Sang-hwa while Japan's Keiichiro Nagashima won the men's 500 with a time of 34.81 to finish ahead of China's Yu Fengtong, who clocked 34.91.
