The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has recalled cheeses made by Quebec's Fromagerie La Voie, but says the recall is not related to the nationwide listeriosis outbreak that has plagued several food manufacturers.

The CFIA says La Voie's cheese has not been adequately pasteurized and could be contaminated with pathogenic bacteria that could make people sick.

La Voie cheese products sold up to Sept. 19 are included in the recall. Only two of the cheeses included in the recall -- L'Apprenti Sorcier and Le Grand Manitou - are sold in Ontario.

Symptoms of illness from consumption of the product may appear similar to stomach flu, including nausea and diarrhea. Pregnant women and people with comprised immune systems are particularly susceptible, says the CFIA.

No one has reported any illness related to the consumption of the company's cheeses.

Recalled products include:

  • L'Apprenti Sorcier, 150 grams
  • Le Funambule, 150 grams
  • Le Grand  Manitou, 320 grams/1.2 kilograms
  • L'Ange-gardien, 180 grams
  • Le P'tit Dernier, 110 grams
  • Le Petit Portage, 1.2 kilograms
