Another high-profile candidate entered the race to become Toronto's next mayor when city councillor and deputy mayor Joe Pantalone entered his nomination papers Wednesday.

Pantalone, a 30-year veteran of local politics, joins a growing list of people vying for city hall’s top job.

The Ward 19 councillor says experience is key in this race, pointing out that he’s been the deputy mayor for six years.

George Smitherman, Rocco Rossi and Georgio Mammoliti are also in the running. TTC chair Adam Giambrone is scheduled to announce by the end of the month whether or not he will run.

The election will take place on Oct. 25.
