CALGARY - Canadian Pacific Railway (TSX:CP) and the union representing 4,800 of its employees have begun another long day of negotiations.
Stephane Lacroix, a spokesman for the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference, says the two parties got back to the negotiating table at 10 a.m. on the strike's second full day.
Lacroix says if it's anything like the previous two days, the two sides will be at it again until midnight.
In a statement Wednesday, Teamsters vice-president Doug Finnson said the union will stay at the bargaining table as long as necessary to reach an agreement.
Federal Labour Minister Lisa Raitt says she's prepared to introduce back-to-work legislation on Monday if there's no deal because the economic impact of a prolonged stoppage would be severe.
However, the union says it agrees with Raitt that the best outcome is for the two sides to come up with a deal without Ottawa stepping in.
