Jamie Langenbrunner finished January in style.
The New Jersey Devils winger was named the NHL's first star of the month and week on Monday.
He led the league last week with six goals -- three of them game-winners -- to bring his monthly points total to 17. That was enough to earn him first star of the month honours, finishing ahead of Anaheim Ducks defenceman Scott Niedermayer and Buffalo Sabres goalie Ryan Miller.
Langenbrunner's performance helped the Devils to an 11-3-0 record in January.
Niedermayer topped all defencemen in scoring last month with one goal and 16 assists. He recorded at least one point in 11 of Anaheim's 14 games.
The Sabres had a good month thanks in large part to Miller. He led all goalies with nine victories, posting a .932 save percentage and 2.30 goals-against average.
Following Langenbrunner as the NHL's second star of the week was Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby. Washington Capitals defenceman Mike Green was named third star.
