The eastbound express lanes of Highway 401 near Bayview Avenue has reopened after it was littered with broken glass on Tuesday afternoon.
All express lanes on that section of the roadway were blocked by 3:30 p.m., although some traffic was squeezing through on the shoulder of the highway. The truck involved in the incident was carrying panes of glass.
Back-ups on the highway stretched as far back as Highway 400, with cars sitting bumper-to-bumper while they waited for the glass to be cleaned up during rush hour on Tuesday.
