Former Liberal MP and Toronto mayoral candidate John Nunziata has been charged with assault for allegedly attacking his ex-wife's boyfriend.

Nunziata, 53, says the charges allegedly stem from an altercation involving Murray Milthorpe at a hockey arena. Nunziata and his wife, Caroline Brett, divorced last year.
