This weekend was expected to be the coldest weekend of the year with temperatures dipping to -19C Sunday night without the wind chill.

Environment Canada says it will feel more like -30 once the wind chill is factored in.

It's going to get even colder overnight. The national weather agency is warning people to brace themselves for a bitter cold of -21C.

During extreme temperatures, health officials warn anyone venturing outside to cover all exposed skin as frost bite can take hold within 10 minutes of being out in the cold.

Tomorrow is expected to bring slightly warmer temperatures coupled with heavy flurries. There should be about 5 cm of snow on the ground, making for a slightly tricky commute for motorists.
