Candidate Profile: Bart Maves (PC)

Bart MavesMaves is looking for a second chance to represent the Niagara Falls riding after previously serving as MPP from 1995 to 2003. He lost the 2003 general election to Kim Craitor by just over 3000 votes. In 2010 he ran for Niagara Regional Council for Niagara Falls winning a seat with the most votes of any candidate in that election.

According to his website, Maves says he will bring job creation to a region hit hard by manufacturing losses and “will strive to make Niagara a leader in Ontario’s private sector job creation.”

Maves claims he will also make sure to protect the casinos in Niagara Falls as a form of entertainment and “oppose any proposals for casinos in the GTA and fight to bring the slots back to Fort Erie.”

Calls made to Maves’ campaign team were not immediately returned.

The married father of three is the owner and operator of a government-relations firm called Sterling Bridge. Maves is also an active member of the community, serving on the Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors, Rotary Club volunteer, and a coach of various levels of hockey, basketball, and baseball.
