A funeral will be held Friday for the off-duty Toronto police officer killed in a fiery motorcycle accident in Vaughan.

Const. Riccardo Torchia collided with a dump truck Tuesday afternoon near Highway 50 and Highway 7.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Torchia's funeral will take place at Immaculate Conception Church in Woodbridge, beginning at 11 a.m.

Visitation will take place between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday at Fratelli Vescio Funeral Home, also in Woodbridge.

The funeral will be led by the officer's family. Because he was off duty at the time of the crash, it will not be a formal police funeral.

Torchia, 30, was an officer with 23 Division for the past three years.

He is the third police officer in the Greater Toronto Area to pass away this year, following the deaths of Sgt. Garrett Styles and Sgt. Ryan Russell. Styles and Russell were both on duty at the time of their death.

York Regional Police are still looking for the cause of the accident that claimed Torchia's life.
