Funeral held for woman believed to have died from listeriosis

A funeral was held in the small town of Madoc, Ont. Thursday for an elderly victim believed to have died from listeriosis.

Frances Clark, 89, was laid to rest in the town about 40 kilometres north of Belleville.

While the local health unit in the town has reported one death from the disease, it will not say if Clark was the victim.

However, Clark's daughter says the elderly woman spent time in a hospital and nursing home recently, and both institutions served Maple Leaf meat products.

The family is still awaiting official test results.
