OTTAWA - Gov. Gen. Michaelle Jean has announced 60 new appointments to or within the Order of Canada.

Hockey great Wayne Gretzky is promoted to a Companion of the Order, as is Calgary Flames part owner Harley Hotchkiss.

Paralympic champion Chantal Petitclerc and retired Supreme Court justice Michel Bastarache are new Companions of the Order.

Former Liberal cabinet ministers John Manley and Anne McLellan and one-time Ontario attorney general Roy McMurtry are named Officers of the Order.

New Members of the Order include singer Carroll Baker and T-V science host Jay Ingram.

Recipients will be invited to accept their insignia at a ceremony to be held at a later date.
