INNSBRUCK, Austria - Injured skier Daniel Albrecht has returned to his native Switzerland after three weeks in an Austrian hospital following a downhill training crash.

Albrecht was transferred by ambulance to an intensive care unit of Bern University's Insel hospital on Sunday to further recover from brain and lung injuries.

"His condition had improved so well over the weekend that nothing was getting in the way of a transfer to Switzerland," the Innsbruck University hospital said in a statement Monday.

The 25-year-old woke up from an induced coma Thursday, three weeks after crashing on the final jump of the Streif course in Kitzbuehel on Jan. 22.

Doctors said Albrecht won't suffer permanent damage from the injuries.

Albrecht, who won two World Cup races this season and is 10th in the overall standings, was the 2007 super-combined world champion.
