Police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal New Year’s Eve shooting in Oshawa.
Durham Region Police say 44-year-old Michael Mills was located on Jan. 8 in Whitby in the area of Dryden Boulevard and Thickson Road after an arrest warrant was issued for him on Monday.
Mills has now been charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of 29-year-old Dennis Binda, police say.
The victim was found shot inside an apartment building at 1040 Cedar Street, north of Wentworth Street West, on the afternoon of Dec. 31. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators have not revealed a possible motive for the shooting but said the incident was isolated.
It was Durham’s 11th homicide of 2024.
