Police are looking for a suspect accused of sexually assaulting a woman in an apartment building in Oshawa on Wednesday night.
Durham Regional Police said they attended the building on St. Lawrence Street just after 11 p.m. for a sexual assault call.
“A male armed with a knife sexually assaulted a female in the lobby of the building,” police allege.
Officers arrived but say they did not find the suspect and victim. Following a search of the area, the victim was located with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
On Thursday, just after 1 p.m., police said the suspect was seen in the area of Harwood Avenue South and Hunt Street, where he allegedly sexually assaulted another person.
As a result, investigators have issued a public safety warning for the suspect identified as Evan Derek Sweet.
He is described as a white man, between 25 and 30 years old, with a heavy build and blonde or orange hair.
Police said he is wanted for robbery, sexual assault, and assault causing bodily harm.
“If you see him, please do not approach and immediately call 911,” police said.
