A 27-year-old man has been arrested after police say a woman was sexually assaulted by a man she met online.
In a news release, Durham Regional Police said the sexual assault, which occurred in Oshawa, was reported to members of the East Division Criminal Investigations Branch on July 16.
Police said a female victim told investigators that she was sexually assaulted by a man she met through an online dating application called “BLK.”
A suspect was subsequently identified on Aug. 12 and was arrested without incident, police said.
The accused, identified by police as 27-year-old Gregory Binns, of Toronto, has been charged with sexual assault, assault by choking, and forcible confinement.
“Police have concerns there may be additional victims and are encouraging anyone who may have had contact with Binns or who has any information relevant to this investigation to come forward and contact investigators,” the news release, issued by police on Friday, read.
