A 63-year-old man from Pickering, Ont., is facing nearly two dozen charges after he allegedly sexually assaulted two children “numerous” times over the course of several months.
Durham Regional Police announced Tuesday that they began investigating the alleged assaults in July. They said the suspect, who is known to both victims’ families, attended their respective residences in Toronto and Pickering, and “inappropriately touched” them.
Their investigation revealed that the suspect had sexually assaulted the female children on a number of occasions between November 2025 and July 2026.
Faruk Dewan was arrested last month and charged with 11 counts each of sexual assault and sexual interference with a person under 16.
Police did not say what relationship he has with either victims’ families. They added that Dewan provides art lessons from a residence in Pickering and investigators have concerns there may be additional victims.
Police are asking anyone with information relevant to the investigation to contact them at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5391 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
