Hamilton Police say they have shut down a drug dealing operation running out of a structure referred to as ‘The Shack.’
Police say the operation was taking place on a discreet trail near Lincoln and Barton streets in central Hamilton along a Canadian Pacific (CP) rail line.
Hamilton officers, along with CP Police, raided ‘The Shack’ on Sat. Dec. 7, and say they found drugs and weapons inside.
In total, police say they found more than 12 grams of fentanyl, nearly eight grams of meth, 61 rounds of ammo including 12 gauge shot gun rounds, a replica 1911 Sig Sauer pistol and bear spray.
Two men were placed under arrest and a dog was handed over to Animal Control, police say.
Police have charged one of the men with multiple counts of drug and weapon possession. They did not disclose the identity of the accused.
The investigation comes just days after officers shut down an “open air drug market” being run in a downtown laneway.
Police have not said if there is a connection between the two instances.
