Niagara police say a teenager is dead after colliding with a snowplow in St. Catharines.

The crash happened on Glenridge Avenue near Lockhart Drive and John Macdonell Street at around 1:15 a.m. on Monday.

Police say the 19-year-old was driving a Pontiac Vibe northbound on Glenridge when they lost control of the vehicle.

Collision reconstruction determined the Pontiac crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a snowplow travelling in the opposite direction.

The 19-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, investigators say.

The crash is still under investigation and Niagara police are asking witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
