A suspect has been charged after a woman was found dead inside her Niagara Falls home.

Officers were called to do a welfare check on a resident at a home in the area of Huron Street and St. Claire Avenue at around 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, Niagara Regional police said.

Officers found a woman dead inside the home after they arrived, police said.

A suspect was taken into custody the same day.

Police said 41-year-old Dale James Vincent of Niagara Falls has been charged with second-degree murder.

“Detectives have information to suggest that this was not a random act of violence,” police said in a news release.

The woman’s identity has not yet been released. Nor did police describe the possible relationship between the victim and the suspect.

Investigators are asking anyone with further information to reach out to police or to call Crime Stoppers anonymously.
