A driver is facing charges after police released a video of the motorist reversing a significant distance down a Caledon street and failing to properly stop at a stop sign.

The video, which was released by Ontario Provincial Police, shows a driver reversing down a residential street before stopping in the middle of an intersection and making a left-hand turn.

“An officer from the Caledon OPP Traffic Enforcement Unit stopped this vehicle for failing to stop at a stop sign while cruising in reverse. Although the driver did technically stop, it was in the middle of an intersection, which is not the appropriate place to stop,” a post on social media reads.

The driver was “charged accordingly,” police said.

“Caledon OPP would like to remind motorists that posted stop signs apply to both vehicles travelling in forward and reverse,” the post continues.

“Vehicles are required to stop at the marked stop line, and if one does not exist, then the nearest crosswalk or before entering the intersection.”
