Minivan driver sought after elderly man seriously injured in Mississauga hit-and-run

Peel Police are updating an investigation into a hit and run in Mississauga that seriously injured a pedestrian.

Peel police are searching for the driver of a minivan who fled after striking and seriously injuring a pedestrian in Mississauga Wednesday morning.

It happened in the area of Britannia Road East and Hurontario Street around 6:30 a.m.

The pedestrian, an elderly man, was initially taken to the hospital with serious injuries but has since been transferred to a trauma centre, police say.

The driver left the scene in what police described as a grey minivan. They did not say where the van was last seen headed.

“We would advise that person to seek legal counsel and attend a local police station,” Peel police public information officer Const. Michelle Stafford told reporters at the scene.

Mark Klucsarits told CP24 the pedestrian was jaywalking when he was struck.

“This gentleman was hit hard and was tumbled through the air,” he said.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
