Two men from Mississauga are facing multiple firearms and drug-related charges.

Peel Regional Police officers say they conducted a search warrant on Dec. 29 at a home in the area of Lakeshore and Hydro Roads in Mississauga.

Investigators say they seized “two loaded firearms, one equipped with an extended magazine, and an auto sear” as a result. An auto sear, police explain, can convert a semi-automatic firearm into one that can automatically fire with a “single, continuous pull of the trigger.”

Investigators say they also seized undisclosed amounts of drugs and money.

Rain Dunham, 25, and Jayden Hurley, 24, are facing multiple charges, including two counts each for possession of a prohibited device and possession for the purpose of trafficking. The charges have not been tested in court.

Police say Hurley is currently on bail release for several “violent” offences, including aggravated assault.

“This investigation highlights our commitment to keeping our communities safe by removing dangerous and illegal firearms and drugs from the streets of Peel Region. We will continue to hold individuals accountable, and advocate for the necessary reforms to strengthen the bail system and put an end to this ongoing cycle of crime,” PRP’s Deputy Chief Marc Andrews said in a release issued on Saturday.

Police are asking anyone with additional information to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
