A 61-year-old man has been charged in connection with multiple sexual assaults involving a minor near an elementary school in Brampton between the summer of 2023 and September 2024.

Peel Regional Police (PRP) Special Victims Unit launched the investigation on Jan. 16, after the victim reported past incidents where the accused allegedly approached her on several occasions along the path that connects Williams Parkway and Bovaird Drive, located behind St. Maria Goretti Elementary School and Fred Kee Park.

The incidents began when the victim was 15 years old, with the accused generally talking to her, PRP said in a news release issued Friday. The interactions later escalated, where the accused allegedly touched the victim sexually.

There have been no physical injuries reported, PRP said.

Brampton resident O’Neil Reid has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and one count of sexual interference.

Reid was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at court at a later date.

Police believe there may be more victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact them at 905-453-2121, ext. 3460 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
