One person was rushed to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries after the driver of a vehicle struck a tree in Brampton, police say.

The crash happened near Howden Boulevard and Lime Ridge Drive, just west of Dixie Road and north of Queen Street East.

Peel Regional Police say they were called to the area around 8:45 p.m. for a single-vehicle collision involving an adult.

Howden Boulevard is closed in both directions from Vodden to Leander streets as police investigate. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes.
