21-year-old motorcyclist killed in Brampton hit-and-run. SUV driver charged with impaired driving

A 21-year-old motorcyclist is dead after colliding with an SUV in Brampton. The driver of the SUV has since been arrested.

A 21-year-old motorcyclist is dead after a crash involving an SUV in Brampton as police lay impaired driving charges against a man who initially fled the scene, earlier this morning.

The collision happened at around 3 a.m. in the area of Bovaird Drive and Yellow Brick Road, according to Peel Regional Police.

Police say officers performed life-saving measures but unfortunately pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene.

During a press conference at around 10:30 a.m., police revealed that the white SUV later returned to the scene while officers were investigating.

“I can tell you that the white SUV that did flee the scene returned while officers were investigating this collision,” Peel police media officer Laurie McCann said. “The driver, who is a 48-year-old man, has been arrested and charged with impaired driving.”

Police did not provide the name of the driver, who is also facing charges of failure to remain causing death and over 80 blood alcohol concentration causing death.

McCann said the investigation remains in its early stages.

“I can tell you that the motorcycle rider is a 21-year-old man, and I have no further details in regard to the rider,” she said.

Police believe the SUV was travelling east and was attempting a left turn while the motorcycle was travelling west.
