A comedy festival that was expected to come to Mississauga this weekend has been abruptly cancelled.
The Great Outdoors Comedy Festival was scheduled to take place at Erindale Park, located near the University of Toronto Mississauga, from Sept. 11 to 13.
Several big names in comedy were billed for the weekend.
Stavros Halkias, Fred Armisen, James Austin Johnson, and John Mulaney were slated to be Friday’s headliners. Saturday’s lineup included T.J. Miller, Jordan Jansen, and Brad Williams, while Ronny Chieng, Michael Kosta, and Hasan Minhaj were expected to wrap the festival up on Sunday.
Festival organizers said in an online statement that they decided to postpone the upcoming event, but did not provide a clear reason why that decision was made.
“We know there was a lot of excitement around the show, but our priority is to deliver the best possible festival, and we believe that postponing this week’s performance is the right decision to ensure we can do that,” the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival wrote.
Organizers said they are exploring new dates and will contact festivalgoers as soon as they have one.
“If you’ve purchased tickets, please stay tuned as we’ll be following up directly,” they wrote.
