A man has died following a stabbing in Mississauga early Sunday morning, according to Peel Regional Police.

It happened at around 4:55 a.m. in the area of Tomken and Kamato roads.

“Police responded to reports of a man that had been stabbed in the industrial buildings behind us while in attendance at a party,” Acting Insp. Ian Plummer told reporters on Sunday morning, adding that the suspect was also in attendance at the party.

Though police attempted to perform life-saving measures on the victim, they said he died at the scene.

Plummer could not confirm where exactly the stabbing occurred, but said the incident is isolated and that the party was in its late stages at the time.

Police confirmed the party was a private event.

The suspect fled the scene on foot. It is unclear if the suspect and victim knew each other.

“We don’t have any information regarding the suspect at this time,” Plummer said. “However, this investigation is in its infancy and that information is unfolding.”

Police are asking anyone who was at the party to contact them.
