A 26-year-old who allegedly forcibly confined, assaulted, and threatened to kill another person in southwest Scarborough, and threatened an officer during their arrest is facing several charges.

Toronto police said they were called to an apartment near Warden Avenue and St. Clair Avenue East at around 10:30 p.m. last Friday as the accused confined the victim inside.

They said the suspect choked, threatened to kill, and assaulted the victim with an unidentified weapon “multiple times,” before the victim managed to escape and call the authorities.

Police said the suspect took off before they arrived.

Both the accused and victim knew each other, they added.

On Monday, an officer tried to arrest the suspect, but police said the suspect pulled out a knife and threatened the officer with it.

With the help from some other officers, Phoenix Macrae-Therien was arrested.

Therien faces multiple charges, including one count each of assault with a weapon/resist arrest and assault, and two counts of failure to comply with release order. The charges have not been tested in court.

Toronto police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 416-808-4100 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
