An elderly woman is in custody after a car was captured on video driving the wrong way in downtown Toronto Thursday, leaving behind a trail of damaged vehicles.
The footage obtained by CP24 shows a car with extensive front-end damage and airbags deployed driving west on the eastbound lane of Front Street East near Princess Street.
Another driver is seen getting out of his vehicle to try and stop the car, but is unsuccessful. The video then shows the car striking several parked vehicles and even briefly mounting the curb.
“What the hell is he doing?” The person taking the video is heard saying as he watched the car travel west on the wrong lane. “This guy’s insane.”
Vehicles on the eastbound lanes are seen getting out of the way to avoid being hit.
Toronto police confirmed to CP24 the video is connected to the collision reported in the area of Front Street West and Bathurst Street, which is about three kilometres away.
