A man from Milton has been charged after a parking enforcement officer (PEO) was assaulted in downtown Toronto over the weekend.
The incident happened on April 11, near Front Street West and Bay Street.
Toronto police say a PEO was working in that area just before 6 p.m. and had issued a parking violation notice to a male’s vehicle.
They say the male then approached the officer and “began to use profane language” before allegedly reaching into the PEO’s vehicle and grabbing at the steering wheel.
Investigators allege while reaching into the vehicle, the male assaulted the parking enforcement officer before fleeing the scene.
No injuries were reported.
The PEO reported the assault to police.
On Monday, the male turned himself into police.
Leon Plummer, 50, of Milton, has been charged with assault peace officer. He is set to appear in court on June 5.
This investigation is ongoing an anyone with further information is asked to contact Toronto police at 416-808-5200 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
