All eastbound lanes of Highway 401 at Kipling Avenue have reopened following a two-vehicle collision that sparked a vehicle fire and left two people seriously injured.

In a post to social media, officials note the eastbound lanes and the on-ramp from Dixon Road reopened at approximately 9:18 a.m. after being closed for several hours while emergency crews responded to the crash.

Paramedics initially told CP24 they assessed three people at the scene. Police now say two people suffered serious injuries, but their lives are not considered to be in danger.

Drivers were advised to avoid the area during the closure as traffic was being rerouted around the crash scene.

The cause of the collision has not been released but officials say the investigation is ongoing.
