A Toronto man has been charged after an alleged unprovoked robbery left a victim with serious injuries earlier this month.

In a news release, Toronto police say officers responded to a robbery call in the Dundas Street East and Broadview Avenue area at around 5 p.m. on June 12.

Investigators say the victim was unloading a vehicle when a man “approached the victim and, unprovoked, assaulted the victim and stole the victim’s property,” police said.

The victim was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

On Saturday, police arrested Jefferson Henry, 44, of Toronto.

He has been charged with robbery, aggravated assault and two counts of breach of probation.

Henry was scheduled to appear in court at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 21.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact police.
