Service resumes on Finch West LRT after being suspended since Tuesday morning

Two Line 6 Finch West LRT trains are seen from the CP24 News chopper. There is currently no service on the line due to a communication issue.

About 24 hours after the Finch West LRT halted its service for a “communication issue,” the TTC announced that Line 6 is back up and running.

The issue had continued through Wednesday morning, but the TTC announced shortly after 9 a.m. that service has resumed.

While it is unclear what caused the issue, Toronto continues to experience a heat wave with temperatures forecast to reach a high of 34 C with a humidex value of 44 on Wednesday.

Metrolinx warned commuters using GO Transit that they could face delays because of the extreme weather, as it is required to run trains at slower speeds during prolonged periods of heat.

When it is extremely hot, GO Transit explained railway tracks in direct sunlight could heat up and expand, causing them to potentially buckle in a phenomenon called a “sun kink.”
