Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after three people were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash in Etobicoke involving a vehicle that fled Toronto police.

The crash happened shortly after midnight in the area of Carlingview Drive and Disco Road.

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said police had tried to stop the driver of an Acura, but the driver fled. The Acura was then involved in a collision with a Ford Escape, the SIU said.

Three occupants of the Ford Escape were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say there were three male occupants inside the Acura: two teenagers and an 18-year-old.

Officials say they fled on foot but were arrested shortly after, adding that none of them were seriously injured.
