A multi-vehicle crash brought traffic to a standstill on portions of the Don Valley Parkway and Gardiner Expressway in downtown Toronto on Saturday night.

Emergency crews were called to the northbound lanes of the DVP north of Gerrard Street East shortly before 7 p.m. for a five-vehicle collision.

Toronto police said two people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash resulted in the closure of all but one northbound lane at Gerrard Street East.

That had traffic also backed up on the eastbound Gardiner Expressway.

Police said they received reports of vehicles doing U-turns and driving the wrong way on the Gardiner Expressway eastbound on-ramp from Yonge Street.

“Obey the rules of the road at all times,” police said in a post on social media.
