The race between Olivia Chow and Brad Bradford is still too close to call as results come in.
The CP24-CTV Election Desk is projecting that Alvin Tedjo will defeat incumbent Carolyn Parrish in the race for Mississauga’s mayor.
Patrick Brown has also been re-elected as Brampton’s mayor, the CP24-CTV Election Desk is projecting.

Brock Township mayor re-elected
Michael Jubb has been re-elected mayor of Brock Township with 90.9 per cent of the vote and all polls reporting, the CP24-CTV Election Desk declares.
Jubb has served as mayor since 2025, when he was acclaimed to the position following the resignation of former mayor Walter Schummer.

Mississauga chose “change:” Tedjo
“Mississauga has voted for change,” Tedjo said to raucous applause and cheers from supporters.
“Today, the city of Mississauga has made a clear and historic choice to demand a change at City Hall,” Tedjo said. “My friends, it is beyond a doubt the honor of a lifetime to stand here as your next mayor of the city of Mississauga. This is a tremendous responsibility that I do not take lightly.”
He thanked incumbent mayor Carolyn Parrish for her service, as well as other contenders Bonnie Criombie and Dipika Damerla, acknowledging that it was a “tough” race.
“Over the course of this campaign, we put forward a comprehensive vision of how we would do things differently and deliver real, meaningful changes that would affect people's lives for the better,” Tedjo said. “Now we will begin the difficult work of making our plan a reality.”

Early results trickling in for Toronto city council
Anthony Peruzza, James Pasternak, and Shelley Carroll have all been re-elected, the CP24-CTV Election Desk is projecting, as early results appear in Toronto.
Peruzza held onto his seat in Humber River-Black Creek with 68 per cent of the vote and 17 per cent of polls reporting.
Pasternak in York Centre has 77 per cent of the vote and 10 per cent of polls reporting.
Carroll, of Don Valley North, was elected with 65 per cent of the vote and 20 per cent of polls reporting.
Toronto results coming in
Bradford is currently leading as Toronto votes have started to come in. With 7.3 per cent of the polls reporting, Bradford has a 7.2 per cent lead over Chow.
Parrish speaks to supporters, congratulates Tedjo
Mississauga mayor Carolyn Parrish has conceded to Alvin Tedjo and congratulated him.
“Not promising all the treats that people are looking for, not alleviating their pressure during a bad period in our economic history was my mistake. We should have simplified our message,” Parrish said.
She wished Tedjo good luck.
“He's gonna have a tough job ahead of him, and he can pick up the phone and call me anytime, and I'll tell him what not to do,” she said.
She added “this just wasn't a normal election” and that another four years was “not in the cards” for her.
“We haven't had a normal two and a half years. These are tough times that we're living in,” Parrish said.

Patrick Brown has been re-elected in Brampton, the CP24-CTV Election Desk declares.
With 78 per cent of polls reporting, Brown appears to have secured 55 per cent of the vote.
This marks Brown's third consecutive term as mayor of Brampton.
The former MPP previously served as the leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario.

Toronto election results available around 9 p.m.: city
The City of Toronto says election results should start coming in around 9 p.m.
The city says there are still some voting places with electors in line who arrived before polls closed at 8 p.m.
“Unofficial election results will include vote totals from advance voting, voting by mail and election day,” the municipality said in a statement.

Mississauga mayoral candidate Bonnie Crombie has congratulated Alvin Tedjo on his win in the Mississauga mayoral race.

Tedjo has big lead in Mississauga
Some election results are coming in from Mississauga with Alvin Tedjo leading by nearly 10,000 votes with 56 per cent of the polls reporting.
Carolyn Parrish is currently in second followed by Bonnie Crombie.

Ford says province is ‘ready to work’ with elected officials
Ontario Premier Doug Ford thanked all the candidates who stepped forward and ran for municipal office.
“Our government is ready to work with everyone who is elected tonight on the issues that matter most to Ontario families: making life more affordable, keeping communities safe, delivering high-quality public services and protecting workers from tariffs and economic uncertainty,” Ford said in a social media post.
Most polls closed
Most polling stations across Toronto have now closed and results should start flowing in soon. Voting hours have been extended at 11 Toronto polling stations but all of those are expected to close by no later than 8:20 p.m.

‘Fast and furious’ Toronto race: Nanos
Nik Nanos of Nanos Research, the exclusive pollster for CP24 and CTV News, says it’s going to be a “fast and furious” to the very end of the Toronto municipal election.
He notes that the race tightened after former Conservative MP Chris Alexander dropped out of the race earlier this month. At one point, Chow had a nine-point advantage.
Nanos says Bradford, who finished eighth with less than two per cent of the vote in the 2023 Toronto byelection, has become a “credible contender” to Chow.

‘A very stressful occasion’: Waiting game underway
Candidates’ nerves are likely frayed and they’re probably feeling jittery, says Ontario NDP MPP Kristyn Wong-Tam, one of the panelists on CP24 – CTV News Toronto’s Power Panel, but those running in Ontario’s municipal election should be proud of the campaign they’ve run.
“Everybody would have taken time off from work. That means they forego their paycheque, and they've been knocking on doors and attending events and just being everywhere,” she told CP24’s Liz West on Monday evening.
“So tonight is really about sitting back now and just sort of being with the community, being with the family, being with the people that love you and held you tight during that election process and be able to walk through it together.”
Former Toronto mayor John Tory says Wong-Tam has painted a “very rosy account of what is a very stressful occasion.”
“The clock, you know, clocks or watches, they seem to slow down and run at half speed all day because you know the candidate really doesn't have that much to do on election day,” he said.
“They've done their job and it's now up to the workers and the volunteers that Kristyn was talking about.”
Tory who has ran for public office three times, twice for mayor of Toronto and once in the Ontario election, said election day is a long one for candidates.
“All you can do is try to be amused by going around and perhaps visiting the polling stations, and then you have that even longer hour that you spend with family and with the team waiting for the results to come in,” he said, urging candidates to not lose hope.
“And sometimes they can come in in a way that isn't you know in your favour at the beginning, and you think, ‘Oh my goodness, it's going to be a bad night’, and then they can change around and vice versa. So it's quite a stressful experience, but nonetheless, it's part of the business.”

Tight race in Mississauga
We’re following a tight race in Mississauga tonight. Carolyn Parrish is running for re-election, but is facing stiff competition from another former mayor, Bonnie Crombie. Ward 2 councillor Alvin Tedjo and Ward 7 councillor Dipika Damerla are also vying for the job. If you haven’t been following so far, here’s a quick primer on the tight race.
Acclaimed races
Several municipal races across the Greater Toronto Area will be acclaimed because only one candidate stepped forward for the position.
In Toronto, Frank D’Amico will be elected as the new TCDSB trustee for Ward 6 while Nancy Crawford will be elected as the TCDSB trustee for Ward 12.
Iain Lovatt will be re-elected as mayor of Whitchurch-Stouffville after no one ran against him.
John Taylor will also remain the mayor of Newmarket.
Some councillor and regional councillor seats in Vaughan, Pickering, Caledon, Oakville, and Newmarket will also be acclaimed.

Voting hours extended at 11 locations
Voting hours at 11 polling stations have been extended “due to disruptions” earlier in the day, the City of Toronto says.
The city did not specify what the disruptions were.

No polling issues in Mississauga
A spokesperson for the City of Mississauga says there have been no issues at polling places.
“All locations have processed voters throughout the day. Any voter in line at 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote, and we will stay open to allow for their vote—no official extension beyond 8 p.m.,” the spokesperson says in an e-mail to CP24.

Why Toronto election is fascinating
CTV News’ Political Commentator Scott Reid says Toronto usually never gets a head-to-head battle when it comes to the choice for mayor, so this election has been fascinating.
“This is one of those old-fashioned knock-them-down gunfights. It's Chow or Bradford, no fooling around. Whichever one of them can motivate their vote better is going to win this race,” Reid says.
The most recent Nanos Research poll conducted for CP24 and CTV News shows that the race is close.
Reid believes the election will come down to who texted more voters and knocked on more doors. He says if there is a low voter turnout, the better-organized campaign has the advantage.
“If it's high voter turnout, well, then it's a jump ball. It's a Yahtzee. It all depends on where the voters want to go, and that comes down to,” Reid says.
"That's really going to come down to in the voters' minds: Are you content with where we're at, or do you want change? If you want change, that's bad news for Chow. If you don't want change, then she'll be re-elected.”

“Compared to provincial and federal campaigns that last maybe 35 days, this one goes on for months. You could even argue years. And so it’s a blessed relief for everybody, including the campaigners, to be done with it,” Tory said.

When asked about voter turnout, Tory said Bradford has an advantage for age demographics while Chow has more councillors in her corner.

Mississauga’s mayoral frontrunners speak
Carolyn Parrish cast her ballot for Mississauga mayor at Huron Park Recreation Centre on Monday morning alongside a granddaughter who she said just turned 18 and became eligible to vote for the first time.
Parrish said that while her confidence is “high,” entering the election, she is reminding Mississauga residents to head to the polls.
The turnout in the 2024 Mississauga mayoral byelection was less than 25 per cent.
“I think they need to get out to vote today. I think its really important,” she said of Mississauga residents.
Parrish’s two main opponents in the mayoral race are former mayor Bonnie Crombie and current city councillor Alvin Tedjo.
Crombie spent much of Monday morning greeting commuters at Erindale Go Station and told CP24 that it was really important to her that she use the campaign “to earn people’s trust yet again.”
“I am anxious but im excited too. I think I have run a great campaign and I am promising people what they need and that is that I am going to give them a future that they can afford and bring their tax rates back to the rate of inflation, I am going to keep our community safe and I am going to get our city moving again,” she said.
Tedjo voted in advance polls but accompanied his wife to vote at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Elementary School before speaking with reporters.
“Today is all about turnout. It is about making sure that people actually go out and vote. I think we saw in the last election that only one in four people actually voted and so this time we have a lot of hope that people want to see change,” he said.
No incumbents
Four Toronto wards are guaranteed to see new representatives at city hall with no incumbents on the ballot. Longtime Parkdale High- Park Coun. Gord Perks announced that he would not seek re-election and Coun. Brad Bradford vacated his spot in Beaches-East York to run for mayor. While University-Rosedale Coun. Diane Saxe is not running for re-election in her ward, she may still return to city hall after throwing her hat in the ring to represent Toronto-Danforth following incumbent Paula Fletcher’s exit from municipal politics. Saxe made the switch after former city councillor Mike Layton announced his intention to run in University-Rosedale.
Across the GTA, a number of incumbent mayors have stepped aside, including in Durham Region, where both the mayors of Oshawa and Ajax announced their intention to step aside.
Caledon Mayor Annette Groves is not pursuing re-election, along with East Gwillimbury Mayor Virginia Hackson.
Four towns in Niagara Region do not have an incumbent running, including Welland, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Thorold, and Lincoln.

Chow told supporters that she knows “these are not easy times” and that many families are “stretched” amid a challenging economic backdrop.
“You deserve a mayor who has your back and I have a plan to make life affordable. Lower TTC fares; after 10 rides a week the rest are free, I will cut property taxes in half for local community grocery stores and I will crack down on price gouging,” she said.
Bradford, for his part, used his appearance to speak about what he believes to be the current state of the city.
He said that Toronto is a great place but “is not living up to its potential.”
“We have all the ingredients to be the envy of cities around the world but we are not there yet. So let me be very clear about what you are voting for today: Folks that want change have the opportunity to deliver it but there is only one way to do that.
