A traffic stop in Markham led to the discovery of a loaded handgun, York Regional Police say.
Officers were patrolling the area of Warden and 14th avenues at around 3 a.m. on Dec. 8 when they stopped a vehicle.
Police said they noticed cannabis “readily available” to the driver, leading to a search of the vehicle. Inside, officers found a loaded handgun, police said.
The driver is now facing a list of charges.
Police said in a news release Monday that 19-year-old Kry-Lykwa Harmony Aarons is facing a number of weapons charges, as well as a charge for driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available and having an “improper muffler.”
Police are asking anyone with further information to contact investigators.
