Elderly woman involved in serious collision in Vaughan has died: police

An elderly woman who was involved in a serious two-vehicle crash in Vaughan late Sunday afternoon has died, say police.

The collision, which sent several people to the hospital, happened at the intersection of Jane Street and Auto Vaughan Drive, north of Rutherford Road.

York Regional Police (YRP) said they were called to that area at about 5:15 p.m.

In a release, police said the collision occurred between the drivers of a black SUV and a white pickup truck.

They said that the three occupants of the SUV were taken to hospital.

Its 87-year-old female driver has since been pronounced dead, while a 90-year-old man remains in life-threatening condition, YRP said.

Investigators said the five occupants of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.
