A York Regional Police officer is facing more than two dozen charges, including breach of trust and obstructing justice.
In a news release issued on Thursday, York Regional Police said the charges against Const. Guangnan Sun stem from an investigation by the Professional Standards Bureau.
They did not release information about the investigation.
Sun has been charged with 23 counts of unauthorized use of a computer, two counts of breach of trust by a public officer, and one count of obstructing justice. He was released from custody with conditions and is scheduled to appear in a Newmarket court on Feb. 18.
Police said Sun joined the force in 2022 and first worked at 5 District. He recently worked out of the Community Resource Centre in Richmond Hill.
