Man accused of committing indecent acts in Richmond Hill

A 55-year-old man has been arrested in connection with two indecent act incidents in Richmond Hill in December.

The first one occurred on Dec. 10 at a business in the area of Red Maple and High Tech roads.

York Regional Police said a male suspect approached one person and committed an indecent act. He allegedly touched the victim for a sexual purpose.

The other incident occurred on Dec. 21 at a business near Carrville Road and Yonge Street.

A male suspect allegedly exposed himself and committed an indecent act.

On Thursday, police revealed that investigators had determined the same suspect was behind both incidents.

He has been identified as Markham resident Carl Fernandes.

He was arrested on Wednesday and charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, two counts of exposing genitals to a person under 16 years of age for a sexual purpose and two counts of committing an indecent act in a public place.
