A 47-year-old man is facing numerous charges, including human trafficking, child sexual abuse, and making and distributing child sexual abuse and exploitation material, after a missing girl was found inside a home in York Region earlier this month.

On April 1, Peterborough Police Service launched an investigation into a missing female youth from their area. They say she had been seen getting into a grey sedan.

Soon after, York Regional Police (YRP) said that vehicle was identified and that they were contacted to help locate it, as the car was believed to be in the Whitchurch-Stouffville area.

The following day, on April 2, officers found the vehicle at residence in that town.

Police entered home under ‘exigent circumstances’

“Concerned for the youth’s well-being, investigators entered the residence under exigent circumstances,” investigators said in a news release.

They say the girl was found there safe and a man was subsequently arrested.

Christopher Conlon, 47, of the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville, has been charged with trafficking a person under 18 years, luring a child under 18 years, make child sexual abuse and exploitation material, distribute child sexual abuse and exploitation material, and possess child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

The charges have not been tested in court.

Investigators say search warrants were executed at two homes linked to Conlon after his arrest.

Police have released the accused’s photo as they believe there are more victims.

This investigation is ongoing and anyone with further information is asked to contact York Regional Police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
